I became passionate about accessibility after reading that more than 95% of websites today have accessibility issues. That statistic inspired me to research the accessibility field further, and to become part of the solution. Since then, I have become a Certified Professional of Accessibility Core Competences (CPACC), obtained the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Trusted Tester certificate, and also obtained certification in the JAWS Screen Reader software.
I have also worked with thousands of blind, DeafBlind, and low-vision individuals who use screen readers, braille displays, and other accessible devices, to help them overcome the digital accessibility barriers they have encountered. These barriers were preventing them from doing things such as e-mailing loved ones, booking flights for a wedding, depositing checks, applying for jobs, ordering groceries, and more.
Beyond my accessibility work, I enjoy reading, watching obscure movies, traveling, playing chess, and playing the piano. I am also trying to learn French. I live in Wilmington, Delaware with my husband Kunal and our orange cat named Deputy.
